MSE Knowledge Graph v1.0

Purpose

The purpose of creating the MSE KG v1.0 is to represent the consortium resources to enable integrative access to distributed heterogeneous research data within the institutions participating in NFDI-MatWerk, the MSE community, as well as across consortiums within the NFDI network and beyond. It will be the backend data resource for the NFDI MatWerk portal. The knowledge graph will be continuously updated based on new information from the consortium.

Content

The materials science and engineering knowledge graph (MSE-KG) is designed and implemented under consideration of W3C standardized technologies. Wikibase will be used as a platform for the deployment and curation of the MSE knowledge graph. Currently, the knowledge graph contains data about resources in the MSE  domain belonging to various categories, including:

  • community structure: researchers, research projects, universities, and institutions;
  • infrastructure: software, workflows, controlled vocabularies, instruments, facilities, educational resources and events;
  • data: repositories, databases, scientific publications, published datasets, and reference data;
  • educational resources and events: lectures, summer schools,  lecture notes, etc.

The MSE-KG will be a single point of access for users to query for domain knowledge, improving scientific data and resource exploration. We plan the integration of MSE ontologies and our MSE knowledge graph in existing web-based platforms conforming to international standards.

How to contribute?

If you would like to contribute to the KG, you can:

  1. download data collection spreadsheets (from here),
  2. add your data to the appropriate places, and
  3. send out the completed spreadsheet to us at MatWerkOMS@fz-juelich.de.
